Mr. Swaminathan is a management graduate from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He has over 3.5 decades of business and market development experience both in Industry and government. He brings with him over 2 decades of experience with U.S. Commercial Service (USCS) facilitating business partnerships between the U.S. and Indian companies in 5 south Indian states. He was involved in opening USCS offices in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
During his stint at the U.S. Commercial Service, Chennai, he has assisted both Indian and American companies in forging business relationships. Among others, he monitored IT, Telecom, healthcare, higher education, automotive, and aerospace industry sectors across the south Indian states. He was one of the 6 Task Force members from Africa, Near East, South Asia region who worked on the development of the BuyUSA website – a one-stop-shop for sourcing products from the U.S. During this tenure, he managed several high-profile trade delegations/missions, led buyer groups to the U.S., and organized several trade fairs in country.
After the U.S. Commercial Service, Swaminathan assisted ELS India, a part of Princeton, NJ-headquartered ELS Education Services, in business development. He assisted ELS India in two specific areas – 1. Expand ELS exposure to schools and collegesto help Student Counselors of ELS to gain access into the student pool. He assisted ELS India sign MOUs with over a dozen Indian schools and universities. He managed multi-city trade mission of U.S. Universities providing excellent exposure of ELS brand among students and parents aspiring to study in the U.S. 2. Swaminathan assisted ELS India open an English language center at SRM University at Kattankulathur. This involved extensive planning and discussions/negotiations with the university.
He assisted ELS India sign MOUs with over a dozen Indian schools and universities. This helped ELS Counselors meet with student pool who are aspiringto pursue higher education in the U.S. He also started an ELS English Language center in collaboration with SRM University at Katgtankulathur.
Swaminathan is currently the Founder Director of Spark Business Consultants, a business development consulting organization. SBC facilitates business partnerships between U.S. and Indian companies. SBC will also offer on-ground assistance to foreign companies and facilitate B2B meetings. SBC will be able to design strategies and offer appropriate assistance to meet the objective of the foreign company. SBC also acts as agent/distributor for both Indian and foreign companies to market their products and technologies in South India.
